During May – Mental Health Awareness Month – as part of the USAID «Public Health System Recovery and Resilience Activity» project, we are conducting seminars for educators, representatives of the social sphere, health care, and public organizations, where we introduce participants to the “Healing Mind and Body” program (CMBM), aimed at working with the psychological traumas of people affected by the impact of war.
Developers of the program from The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, USA, founded by psychiatrist Professor James S. Gordon, have arrived in Ukraine. They will share effective techniques for preventing and managing stress with Ukrainians and help master practical scientifically grounded tools for enhancing resilience and self-awareness, developing self- and mutual aid, and building a supportive environment in communities.

“Healing Mind and Body” (CMBM) is a program with scientifically proven effectiveness, which has been successfully implemented by trained community representatives in hospitals, schools, public organizations to support populations traumatized by war, terrorism, and natural disasters in Bosnia, Kosovo, Israel, Gaza Strip, Haiti, and Puerto Rico, as well as for US veterans. Research published in leading scientific journals has shown that more than 80% of children and adults diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, after 10-12 group sessions of the CMBM program, got rid of the symptoms of this disorder, and the achieved results persisted over time.
