EIPHP research was presented at the international global health conference “CUGH 2026” in Washington, DC.

From April 9 to 12, 2026, the 17th Annual Conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health brought together more than 1,200 professionals from around the world to discuss the future of global health.

During a poster session, Iryna Zaviriukha, a researcher at the European Institute of Public Health Policy, together with colleagues from Yale University and international partners, presented the results of the study “Peer-Run Optimal Support for Treatment (PROST): Lessons learned from implementation of a pilot randomized controlled trial in Ukraine, 2022–2024″.

The study focused on the “PROST” intervention, which trains Peer Health Leaders (PHLs) among older people with HIV (50+) to support out-of-care individuals in re-engaging in HIV care and improving treatment outcomes.

The research also examined the feasibility of implementing this model in a multi-crisis setting in Ukraine, as well as the role of supervision in supporting PHLs. The findings highlight the potential of peer-led approaches to reach vulnerable populations and strengthen engagement in care even in challenging contexts.
