The aim of the project

The purpose of the current pilot study is to (a) understand the current state of mental healthcare and the need for mental health services among patients in MOUD clinics in Ukraine, particularly in the context of regional war and displacement; (b) explore the potential utility of a transdiagnostic mental health program for patients newly on MOUD treatment, delivered via clinicians and trained peers in this setting and supported by digital tools, to support mental health needs and promote adherence to MOUD treatment.

Goals and objectives

  1. Understand MOUD patients’ mental health, general health behaviors, perceived needs for mental health services, HIV prevention/care strategies, and overall adherence to MOUD and ART treatment.
  2. Explore the potential utility of transdiagnostic web-based mental health program, delivered by clinicians to patients newly on MOUD treatment in order to support mental health needs and promote adherence to MOUD treatment.
  3. Assess provider training needs to deliver this program.
