Training new trainers of the Emotional and Physical Recovery Program

On October 21-27, Kyiv hosted the Training for Trainers of the Emotional and Physical Recovery Program. The Center for Mind-Body Medicine Specialists (CMBM, USA) trained 42 Program trainers over 7 intensive days.

The Emotional and Physical Recovery Program is a science-based program developed by mental health professionals that aims to equip participants with self-help tools to improve their psycho-emotional state, manage stress, reduce anxiety, etc. In Ukraine, the USAID PHS R&R Activity provides training and support for Program facilitators.

During a seven-day training in Kyiv, new Program trainers engaged in practical sessions, panel discussions, and group work to master the skills for training future facilitators.

Throughout the training, the participants:

  • worked through the Primary and Advanced Training Curricula;
  • practiced exercises;
  • during the panel sessions, discussed group facilitation techniques, group dynamics, and resolved potential conflict situations that may arise during the training for facilitators;
  • shared experiences and tackled practical situations during group work, performed specific sessions as trainers;
  • reviewed the provided training materials;
  • planned future training sessions to prepare new facilitators as trainers.

In general, the course focused on developing practical skills, training and supervisory competencies.

We hope that by training new facilitators, this Program will become available in Resilience Centers, social service centers, and other institutions and agencies dedicated to supporting the psychosocial well-being of Ukrainians.
