The training of trainers in the clinical management of common mental disorders in primary care institutions is ongoing

The team of the project «Public Health System Recovery and Resilience Activity» together with the WHO conducts trainings for trainers and supervisors on the clinical management of common mental disorders in primary care facilities.

The five-day training is based on the mhGAP Guidelines, version 2.0, for the management of psychiatric, neurological disorders and disorders related to the use of psychoactive substances in non-specialized health care facilities.

The first training as part of the USAID project «Public Health System Recovery and Resilience Activity» took place in December 2022 in Kyiv, the second – at the end of January 2023 in Lviv. Currently, 48 specialists in the field of mental health from seven regions of Ukraine, in which the project operates, have received trainer certificates. Next, they will train family doctors, therapists and mid-level medical workers in the focal communities of the project – in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Kyiv and Odesa regions.
